It was opened in 1981 by George McKerrow Jr. and his best friend, Brian. McKerrow previously worked as a manager at a restaurant, Quinn's Mill.

His first establishment was named longhorn Steaks Restaurant & Saloon, located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Incidentally, the space was an old antique shop with black painted walls.

When he opened the restaurant, George filled the walls with bull heads and more Texan-style objects. From then on, he began offering steaks on the grill with butter sauce to customers.
