In 2018, a new area was opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Toy Story Land. With the arrival of this area, the park gained an incredible family roller coaster, the Slinky Dog Dash!

Despite being indeed a roller coaster, it is an attraction for the whole family.
It has no loopings, no inversions and is not one of those super fast.
We can consider it a roller coaster for beginners, and if your child is usually afraid of the bigger ones, this can be a good way to start.

What is Slinky Dog Dash like?
On this roller coaster you'll go on an adventure through Andy's room, in a cart shaped like the Slinky dog-spring from the movie!
While enjoying this attraction, you will have a beautiful view of the new Toy Story Land, and you will also see other Andy toys along the roller coaster like Jessie, and Rex, in full size, as in this land you are “shrunk” to the size of an Andy toy!
This attraction also has a difference from other Disney roller coasters, as it has two impulses during its duration.
The first impulse is to start the attraction, approximately in the middle of the trip it stops, takes a back impulse and launches the cart forward, going up with speed, and at that moment you will pass through rings with rotating lights.

Tips for Riding the Slinky Dog Dash
As one of the newest attractions in the park, this attraction naturally tends to have long lines.
If you want to avoid queues at all costs, you have a few options.
The first is to acquire the Genie+, Disney's paid fastPass. With it, you can skip the line for this attraction by scheduling an available time.
If you are staying at any Disney hotel it can be even easier because then you will be entitled to enter the park half an hour earlier.
Use that half hour and head straight to Toy Story Land to do the Slinky Dog Dash.
You don't even have to run because at the moment most people who enter at this time go straight to Galaxy's Edge which is currently the most crowded area of the park, as it is the most recent.
One last alternative if you don't want to spend money buying Genie+ and you're not even staying at a Disney resort is to simply leave to go to Slinky Dog as soon as the park opens or at the end of the day close to closing.
These are the 2 times when this attraction usually has the shortest lines.
is it worth riding the Slinky Dog dash?
Yes!
It is undoubtedly one of the best attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios so far, even though it is a park full of amazing attractions.
The only exception is if the queue time is longer than 2 hours and it is a very hot or rainy day. This is because much of the queue is uncovered and it is fully open.
On hot days it can be a very difficult queue to face.
