Disney has several parks around the world and Paris couldn't stay out of it. The Disneyland Paris Resort It has two theme parks: Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios, a hotel and entertainment complex, all connected to each other and to French public transport.

Disneyland Paris was opened in 1992 and has been modernizing every year.

Those who are used to Walt Disney World will notice many similarities, mainly due to the already known attractions: Hollywood Tower of Terror, Space mountain, Aerosmith and Big Thunder, which despite the names being similar, the attractions end up being a little more radical.

How is Disneyland Paris?

It is the main park of the Resort, it is similar to Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom and there's Princess Aurora's castle at the end of Main Street.

The park is divided into 5 areas:

  • Main Street: is the entrance to the park, with facades and accessories of Victorian architecture and its end is at the Castle of Sleeping Beauty, the famous Princess Aurora.
  • Discoveryland: it is the area that refers to the future and was inspired by the great intellectuals.
  • Fantasyland: it is the area where children, especially girls are enchanted, there you can find fairy tales and Disney stories.
  • Frontierland: portrays the American Wild West of the 19th century.
  • Adventureland: there are several parts of the world, there you can find one of Disney's most beloved roller coasters: Big Thunder.

you find in the park Disneyland Paris around 40 attractions and just like the others parks Disney spread around the world, carry Walt Disney's wish: that all ages can have fun in their facilities.

Disneyland Paris attractions

There are attractions that are very similar to those found in Walt Disney World (Orlando), such as the boat ride through the “It`sa Small World“, which is the charm of children.

Peter Pan`s Flight, where you fly in a small boat through the story of the Peter Pan movie

Space Mountain, with a modernized version now referring to the Star Wars universe; Star Tours, Star Wars battle simulator and others like Big Thunder and Pirates of the Caribbean.

In addition to the toys we can find versions in other parks, such as the radical Indiana Jones and The Temple of Peril and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast.

What is Walt Disney Studios?

The Walt Disney Studios is very similar to Hollywood Studios, from the Disney Orlando parks, this because of the similar theme and the two flagships being from Orlando are the same from Paris: Hollywood Tower and Aerosmith.

This park is divided into 4 parks:

  • Front Lot: which is the entrance to the park.
  • Production Courtyard: where you can find Hollywood movie attractions.
  • Toon Studio: a place inspired by the Disney Pixar classics and where most of the attractions can be found.
  • Blacklot: is the “industry” area, but also has a focus on movies.

This park is smaller, with approximately 20 attractions, including the super roller coaster in the dark Aerosmith;

The haunted Hollywood Tower elevator;

Attractions related to the movie Toy Story;

The roller coaster inspired by the movie “Finding Nemo”, the Crush`s Coaster, the Ratatouille simulator;

The stunt show and special effects “”Motors… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular” and “Cars Race Rally”, these last four attractions being available only on Disneyland Paris.

Disneyland Paris shows and details

In addition to the various attractions, throughout the year there are parades such as the “Disney Magic on Parade”, where you can see many Disney characters, with lots of music and dancing.

Be sure to pick up the schedule right at the entrance to the parks with the times and places where you can find the characters to take pictures.

At the end of the day, close to closing time, the famous Disney Dreams show, with fireworks, lights, Colors, lasers and many Disney stories to make your visit even more unforgettable.

At the end of your trip to the park, you can still check out the Disney Village shopping, dining and entertainment complex, which is reminiscent of Disney Spring in Orlando.

There you can find everything, the biggest Disney product store is there, there are also the chain hotels and everything to end your day in the best possible way.

Fastpass+ at Disneyland Paris

Visitors who have already been know how FastPass helps when planning the parks itinerary and how they speed up going to the rides.

Fastpass is the benefit given by Disney so that you schedule a time to go to a certain attraction without having to queue for it, just go to the attraction close to the time and hand in the FP+ paper and that's it.

disneyland-paris-fantasyland
disneyland-paris-fantasyland

Remembering that not all attractions have the FastPass+ system and to obtain it, just take your park ticket to the machines at the kiosks that are next to the attraction.

You will have to insert the ticket and the machine will give you a kind of other ticket with the scheduled time to go to the toy.

With the scheduled time, just go to the line identified with FP+, give the cast member your FastPass paper and that's it, wait in line to go to the attraction.

Without a doubt, it is one of the best ways to save time and make the most of the park, without the need to stand in lines for hours.

It is common for the main attractions to have FastPass availability, but it is worth following this valuable tip: arrive early and guarantee your FP+ for the desired toy.

It is worth remembering that you can only book one by one, so prioritize the most desired attraction, use it and move on to the next one.

Update on FastPass+ at Disneyland Paris

Disney recently announced a drastic change to the Fastpass system for Disney in Paris. These were bad changes in our opinion, let's check out what's coming here.

Premier Access

This is the system that will replace the current FastPass, in short, it's a paid fastpass!

In it, you can buy faster access to attractions through the Disneyland Paris app.

It works as follows:

  • The visitor must link the park tickets to Disneyland Paris app;
  • Is required be inside the park to make the reservation;
  • The visitor must select the attraction, the people in the group who want to buy and the application will offer a time window for the visit;
  • After payment, just go to the attraction at the booked time and present the QR Code in the app.

Premier Access prices vary depending on the attraction and the day of visit (much like Universal Express Pass), and are between €8 and €15, per person per attraction. It should be noted that this value is valid for a single use in an attraction at the booked time.

You can buy Premier Access for one attraction at a time.

It is important to point out that there is a limit of 3 Premier Access for each attraction per visitor on the day of the visit.

Premier Access attractions

  • Autopia
  • Big thunder mountain
  • Peter Pan's Flight
  • Ratatouille
  • Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast
  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain
  • Star tours
  • Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Standby Pass

This was yet another update released in conjunction with Premiere Pass.

Basically, the idea is that you wait part of the time out of line and part of the time in line, freeing up space in those busier moments of the day (thus avoiding those queues that leave the attraction, you know?).

It works as follows:

  • The visitor must link park tickets to the Disneyland Paris app;
  • On the day of the visit, you will need to select an attraction and book a Standby Pass (if it is active, as I explain below) for each person who wants to enter the attraction;
  • The app will give you the next available time;
  • At that time, you will have a 30-minute window to go to the attraction, present the Standby Pass QR Code and join the queue.

Here it is important to emphasize that it will not always be necessary to obtain a Standby Pass to queue for attractions.

The common queue will continue to exist at certain times of the day, and the Standby Pass will be activated when queues are longer.

Unlike Premiere, Standby Pass is not paid.

And you can book one Standby Pass at a time, and when the time window for the selected attraction starts, it is possible to make a reservation for another attraction.

It cannot be canceled or transferred to another person.

This same Premier Access and Standby Pass system It is already used at Disneyland in Shanghai for over a year.

The paid FastPass system also exists at California Disneyland with the MaxPass ? the difference is that there, it does not replace the common FastPass and it is an extra option that brings some benefits.

There is still no official confirmation of what will happen with Orlando FastPasses, but would this be a possible path for Walt Disney World as well?
