The atmosphere of this hotel is peaceful and allows contact with nature. This is one of the reasons why some tourists, who value a calmer environment to relax, seek the Disney's Old Key West Resort.

The complex of hotels Disney has several accommodation options.

Some of them are better known, and therefore are also more disputed among tourists. But while some of these hotels are less sought after, that doesn't mean they can't surprise.

Some hotels also have recurring guests, as if turning the place into a meeting point for a large family.

This is the case of the Old Key West Resort, a luxury hotel with a regular clientele and many interesting attractions.

Among the most outstanding features are the spacious rooms with kitchens.

Families in general benefit, as the hotel has a large leisure area with swimming pool, playground, golf course, sports courts, gym, games room and all the amenities of a resort.

The setting of Disney's Old Key West Resort is all inspired by the islands of the Florida Keys, an archipelago of tropical islands located south of Florida.

Hence the romantic and tropical climate that the hotel exudes for its visitors.

Check out everything about Disney's Old Key West Resort and make sure it's the right hotel for you, so you can make the most of your Disney trip.

Location of Disney's Old Key West Resort

Disney's Old Key West Resort is located at 1510 North Cove Road on Lake Buena Vista.

The distance between Disney's Old Key West Resort and the Orlando International Airport is 33.9 km and from Kissimmee Gateway Airport, 17.6 km.

Nearby we also have many restaurants, shops and attractions.

Disney's Old Key West Resort is a 15-minute drive away. Disney springs, a center with a variety of entertainment, shopping and food options; and ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney's sports-focused theme park.

In addition, it is located 1.4 km from Aerophile (formerly Characters in Flight), Disney's hot air balloon ride, and 2.2 km from Disney's Boardwalk, a 400-meter long pedestrian street with several restaurants and shops, excellent for night walks.

That is, in terms of location, the Disney's Old Key West Resort really scores points. But, it is worth noting that the most agitated tourists may prefer another hotel, since Disney's Old Key West Resort prioritizes tranquility.

Due to these two factors, we can say that Disney's Old Key West Resort offers the balance between the calmness of its accommodation located in a vast green area, and the hustle and bustle that is found in its surroundings.

Transportation from Disney's Old Key West Resort

It is always good to take into account that the Disney hotels have free transportation to parks and for Disney Spring.

At Disney's Old Key West Resort you can take the bus or take the boat.

By bus, transportation turns out to be faster. That's because you don't have to waste time parking, for example. The bus drops guests in front of the park entrance.

O lado negativo é que se você utilizar o transporte da Disney nos horários de entrada e saída do parque é possível que você tenha que enfrentar fila.

Buses leave every 20 minutes and start running 45 minutes before the parks open and end 2 hours after the parks close.

In the case of transportation from the hotel to the parks, they stop working just before the parks close.

As Disney's Old Key West Resort hotel is large, you will find five bus stops within it: in front of the Hospitality House, on Millers Road, on Peninsular Road, on Old Turtle Pond Road and on South Point Road.

If you prefer to go by boat, it's good to know that the ride itself is already an attraction. It takes a little longer, but it's worth it for the experience.

But it is good to remember that, unlike the bus, the boat will not stop at the entrances to the sites.

In the case of the walk to the Disney Spring, the boat will drop you off on the other side, on the West Side, so you'll have to walk a little further.

But, for those who like beautiful landscapes, it's worth it.

First Impressions of Disney's Old Key West Resort

Hospitality at the hotels in the Disney complex is always a differentiator, but in the case of Disney's Old Key West Resort there is a special touch.

Perhaps because it was the first Disney hotel for members of the Disney Vacation Club, it is common to notice that many guests know each other, as if they had been regulars for years. And that's more or less what really happens.

Disney Vacation Club or DVC operates on a timeshare system. This is a shared holiday ownership where you buy a certain period of the year.

At Disney, it has been operating since 1991 and is organized around a system of points for its members.

No wonder the hotel's greeting is “Welcome Home?”. The impression is that the hotel is made up of one big family.

the decoration of Disney's Old Key West Resort is another differential that enchants right on arrival.

Inspired by the Florida Keys archipelago, the atmosphere is reminiscent of a beach setting.

Pastel colors, blues and lots of wood accents are elements of the Old Key West Resort, plus the palm trees and golf courses outside the hotel complement the romantic and peaceful environment.

Still, this option offers a small kitchen with a microwave, toaster, coffee maker and minibar. It is an accommodation that looks like a kitchenette.

Despite being smaller, the Studio is a very spacious room that has a terrace and balcony, to enjoy the beautiful view of the hotel.

In the “Villa” you can choose accommodation with 1 bedroom for up to 5 people, 2 bedrooms for up to 9 people, or 3 bedrooms for up to 12 people.

The “Villa” kitchen is spacious and fully equipped, ideal for large families or for a trip with many people.

It has a living and dining area to gather the family “at home”, in addition to a washer and dryer.

The surroundings of the accommodation are dominated by nature, with a green area and a lake, bringing beautiful views and tranquility at any time of the day.

Dining at Disney's Old Key West Resort

It's possible that you'll want to occupy the kitchen in your room for a few days of your trip, but the hotel has some options for those who don't want to operate the stove.

At Olivia's Cafe restaurant you can have your meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The decor is in keeping with the beach vibe with nautical themes and an informal atmosphere.

At breakfast you will find the typical American breakfast with some specialties of the house, such as banana french toast served with rum syrup, coconut whipped cream and a side of bacon or sausage.

At lunch and dinner, the restaurant has snacks, salads and dishes on the menu that also includes a vegetarian option.

There is a good range of children's meals, as well as delicious desserts. The menu's cocktail list is quite attractive, with different types of beach-style mojitos and margaritas.

By the pool is the Snacks Turtle Shack with quicker alternatives to meals that include pizzas, sandwiches and salads.

Good's Food to Go is a fast food joint that is also located near the hotel's main pool, with a very typical US menu.

It also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast is American style and for lunch and dinner you can order hamburgers, salads or nachos, in addition to options for children.

Take the opportunity to enjoy a drink at Gurgling Suitcase, an outdoor bar, also close to Good's Food to Go and Olivia's. You can even order something to eat from Olivia's Cafe while in the Gurgling Suitcase.

If you don't want to leave your room, but you're not in the mood to cook either, you can order a pizza, salad or some other food or drink option for the hotel.

The Disney hotels offer this service to their guests and it works from 5:00 pm to 12:00 am.

Leisure at Disney's Old Key West Resort

Disney's Old Key West Resort waterslide features a sandcastle-shaped waterslide.

The sand is also under the beach chairs that are in the area, in order to reinforce the coastal climate of the hotel's setting.

In the decoration we also find dolphins that spout water and a lighthouse that hosts a sauna.
