Rent a car

The most common option among travelers who want to take this route.

Is not for nothing! It is one of the best options and we are going to talk a little about it here.

The first thing I need to do is show a photo of the route on google maps so you can see the distance and location of each of the cities;

Miami to Orlando

As you can see, google maps recommends 2 routes very close and with little difference in distance and time, and that is to say, both roads are excellent!

So, just rent your car at Miami airport and start your trip to Orlando.

Carpooling from Miami to Orlando

Florida Turnpike

The “common” route is along the Florida Turnpike road, which descends diagonally through the interior until reaching West Palm Beach, which is on the coast of Florida.

But here, it's 235 miles (378 km) of dreary, dreary landscape. About 3:20h of non-stop travel.

I-95

However, you can also take I-95 which is a more pleasant road and “along the coast”. In quotes because you will unfortunately not have a view of the beautiful South Florida Sea during your journey.

Here it will be 239 miles (384 km) in a slightly nicer route as you will pass through well-known places like West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Port Saint Lucie.

About the time, it will be around 3:30h of non-stop travel.

US-27

But Carlos, that route was not on the map above, correct? Well, he really wasn't.

The reason is simple, neither google recommends it, and neither do we. It looks good here:

The reason we don't recommend this route is a single and simple one!

He takes 1:30 longer than the others.

It's only worth taking this road if you want to visit some places closer to the Gulf of the Caribbean like Naples, ClearWater or even a stop in Tampa, home of our dear Busch gardens.

Is the drive from Miami to Orlando legal?

Well, as I said quickly, unfortunately you won't have a sea view taking any of the roads.

However, if you choose to go along the coast, you can stop at the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.

The road is generally monotonous, but it is a good road, especially compared to the ones we are used to in Brazil.

So if your option to go by car is to know the road and etc.

Do not do it!

Now, if your reasons are other than economics, then it will be worth it.

But to give a general order of magnitude, for each car a value of approximately $100 can be considered for Gasoline + Toll.

Is it worth it to rent a GPS for this car trip?

Briefly! No! I won't go into too much detail on this subject because we've already talked about it. in this blog post here.

What we recommend is that you travel with internet on your cell phone, be it on your Brazil plan or buying a international chip with our discount (just use PartiuDisneyParks coupon in cart)

How to get from Miami to Orlando by Train

Well, there's been a lot of talk about it for some time now. brightline which will be the bullet train that will connect the cities of Miami and Orlando and will take only 2h30 of travel.

Well, this train was supposed to be inaugurated, however, it seems that the company was sold halfway and the project was taken over by another company and the date and future of this train still seems very uncertain.

Amtrak Miami to Orlando

The option that exists today is, you can take the train from Miami to West Palm Beach and from there on your way to Orlando in another way.

I don't even need to say more to say that this is a bad option. Taking into account the inconvenience of having to change means of transport full of suitcases, this still takes time.

Imagine staying at the station waiting for the train, getting off, taking a taxi or renting a car, or waiting for a bus!

All that time and ticket costs add up. So this option will be shelved as a recommendation until the bullet train actually arrives to Orlando!

Going from Miami to Orlando by Bus

If this option seems a little better to you, it's because maybe it is!

As with everything in life, there are pros and cons to taking the bus from Miami to Orlando.

Whether it's worth taking the bus will be much more an individual question for your group than a general answer.

Overall, we consider the bus a good choice for this route.

I hear a lot of people talking about the discomfort, well, it's okay that you're going to be sitting a lot longer than you would if you were on a plane.

However, I find the bus chair infinitely more comfortable than the economy class of an airplane, see photo below:

The photo above is of one of the buses that makes this route, from the company Red coach one of the most traditional companies for this route.

Let's take a look at some of the great advantages:

The price varies, but it is possible to buy very cheap tickets, including prices from $15-20/person

You can take 2 large suitcases and one carry-on. This becomes a big advantage if you are in a group of 4 people with a lot of bags per person that probably won't fit in the car.

The bus has free wi-fi, so if you don't travel with an international internet chip, you'll have wi-fi to let your friends and family know that you've arrived!

The trip lasts about 4 hours, which is very little longer than the car trip.

There are several buses on the Miami Orlando route, some from airport to airport and others that even leave at some hotels.

Orlando Bus Terminal

The Orlando terminal is near the airport at 1777 MC COY Road Orlando, FL. 32809.

Remembering that some buses will also drop you off at hotels, so stay tuned when buying.

To get to the airport from this terminal, there is a small shuttle that will take you, it is very cheap, it costs US$5.

It even has shuttles to other locations in the city.

If you are staying at a Disney hotel, we recommend that you take the shuttle to the airport and I took the Disney bus from there.

Getting from Miami to Orlando by Plane

Airplane Latam Star Wars

Well, this option is not at the end of the list by chance!

It's here because it's usually the option that Brazilian travelers are looking to get away from for its high price.

This is true on the one hand, but it varies widely.

It is possible to find tickets at very affordable prices, especially if you buy them well in advance.

Miami airport

The great advantage of the plane is that you arrive very quickly atOrlando airport, and if you have arrived directly from Brazil and are making a connection, it is even better.

You take your suitcase and send it a few meters ahead so it's very practical.

In addition, Miami airport is a gigantic airport so if you have time, it will be worth a leisurely stroll because it has everything inside.

The cons here is actually the value! But it's still our way of Recommended transportation to go from Miami to Orlando.
