Space Mountain: Rollercoaster in the Dark at Disney

One of the most sought after classics in Magic Kingdom, Space Mountain is still a roller coaster that appeals to all generations and it doesn't look like that will change.

Founded on January 15, 1975, this elder of attractions leaves nothing to be desired in terms of fun.

Many people think that because it is a ride older, it may be outdated and not good.

Quite the contrary, Space Mountain is a roller coaster that runs through the evolution of attractions and remains one of our favorite attractions throughout the entire Walt Disney World Resort.

But for those who have never been there, there is always that doubt about how it is.

Row

Come on, to begin with, it usually has a long queue, so Disney has provided a very fun solution while you wait your turn.

Along the line of Space mountain there are several mini games where you score points and play against the other visitors who are in line with you.

They're pretty simple, but it's a great way to entertain the kids (and the adults ehehehe).

So you know, when you see those lights on the railing in line, stay tuned because there's a game in front of you to help pass the time.

Ending the line and it's your turn !! Uhuuuuuuu !!!!

Does Space Mountain have Looping?

No! Space Mountain does not have any looping or upside down flips. Despite that, don't think she's a silly roller coaster.

How is Space Mountain

She is a roller coaster with a very “small” stroller, which causes discomfort and fear in some people (I'm scared to death, but I love it kkkk).

Below is a photo of your cart:

If you are big and have a big backpack, you might have some difficulty fitting into the roller coaster, so I advise you to give the big backpacks to the smaller people in your group to put under their legs.

You can rest assured that nothing will fall from your cart.

The Space mountain it's a walk through space and nothing like starting in a tunnel full of lights eheheheh.

Nice huh?? And it is!

The roller coaster it has a lot of fast and exciting drops and turns, and to make it even more exciting, it's all in the DARK!

You can even see the rails, but it would be better if you didn't because the feeling you get is that you're going to hit your head all the time.

But don't worry, your head is safe, but I wouldn't raise my hands, just not to risk it.

Can't believe it's pretty close? Alright, here's a picture below for you to draw your own conclusions.

A little scary isn't it?? But calm down, she's more exciting than scary, don't worry.

Such as ride it's completely in the dark, it's very difficult to film and show exactly how it is inside, but we can show our reactions when arriving and leaving Space Mountain, so here's the video of our Youtube channel!

Fun facts about the roller coaster

Another cool curiosity of Space mountain It has 2 identical rails on each side.

This was actually told to us by a cast member who was working there.

It's easy to see that it has 2 separate tracks because the queue of the FastPass + and the normal queue are separated.

Also, when your cart is going uphill, you can usually see another one coming up right next to you.

I honestly felt a slight difference between the 2 railsbut at the same time we know that rollercoaster change their speeds a few times.

So I'm not sure if I felt a difference in speed or if there really is something different between the 2 sides of the Space mountain.

One more curiosity is that, at the end of the roller coaster you pass again through an arch full of lights, this time red lights.

The last time we went, I thought the illusion of how great the arch appears to be close to you was cool and I had the brilliant idea of raising my hands to try to reach the lights.

Result of that?

I managed to touch the lights without much effort and got a good shock! So, my advice to everyone is, don't take your hands off the cart during the entire journey and guarantee a wonderful experience on Space Mountain! 🇧🇷

Is Space Mountain scary for kids?

After talking a lot about Space Mountain, another doubt that we received a lot is if Space Mountain is a good attraction for children.

Well, honestly, it can be a little scary.

Of course, this will depend more on the child itself.

There are children who are frightened by the dark, others by its speed.

If your child is afraid or doesn't like places without light, better skip this attraction.

If you are in doubt whether to take your child or not, we recommend taking the child on more open and smaller roller coasters first, such as The Barnstormer or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train before venturing to Space Mountain.
