To make the most of your trip to Disney, learn a little more about Orlando city climate and temperature and its seasonality over the year.

How is the weather and temperature in Orlando?

The city of Orlando enjoys a pleasant and warm climate during most of the year.

The State of Florida is located in Orange County, a region with a hot and humid subtropical climate.

Two seasons are well defined in this geographic region and they have very peculiar characteristics.

In the first, which runs from April to September, the climate is accentuated by the occurrence of rain and hot temperature.

From October to March the rain stops and the temperature drops, but the cold is rarely intense in the region.

Other more specific variations are determined by the seasons.

Weather is a very important factor in planning a trip, if you want a more accurate analysis of each case to decide the month you will travel, be sure to check out our post about when is the best time to go to Disney.

Average Temperature In Orlando By Month

To confirm and give you a better idea of what awaits you in terms of temperature in orlando, we took a graphic from the website weather.com where you can clearly see the range of variation that you will find in time in Orlando.

The graph below shows the average maximum and minimum temperature.

As it became clear, the temperature variation is not that extreme, it is very similar to what we find in some countries like Brazil and some in Europe closer to the Equator.

But importantly, for your trip, be prepared for any temperature because everything changes very quickly.

Average Rainfall in Orlando

Let's quickly talk about the average of another factor that directly influences temperature and climate.

Let's agree that even if the day is not very cold or very hot, does it change everything if it rains?

It's funny because Disney was built in Florida precisely because it is statistically the least rainy place in the United States.

But honestly I think it's strange because we've been in times that in a 21-day trip, we got rain practically every day.

So stay tuned for that factor too so you don't get caught off guard.

Below is the graph with the average rainfall in Orlando.

Let's know a little more about the Orlando weather Next!

Hot Months in Orlando

In the summer and spring months (March to August), what attracts most attention in Orlando is the beach atmosphere that stays in the air. I've had the opportunity to be in Orlando several of these months and I can assure you, it's really hot.

Some days it borders on unbearable depending on where you are going to spend your day.

It might be a good idea to have Orlando water parks on your script.

Parks like Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and Volcano bay from Universal will be a great way to enjoy these warmer days, especially in the summer months!

Incidentally, it is also worth considering a trip to the beaches of Florida, as a trip to Miami, or a visit to state parks, such as Blue Spring State Park.

Orlando Hot Months Hot Tip

Unfortunately, it rains almost every late afternoon in the summer!

It's usually one of those quick summer rains, so it doesn't interfere with the plans at all, just open up so you don't get wet because the rain shower is usually strong.

But if you are one of those who likes to cool off in the rain, it will even be pleasant for you. After all, after a day of intense heat, which can reach 40 degrees, nothing is more refreshing than walking in the rain.

So leave your raincoat covering your things and enjoy the rain.

After the rain passes, you will see that the heat continues and you will be dry in 15 minutes.

Look on here our post with tips for taking advantage of Magic Kingdom with rain!

And of course, always remember to buy your raincoats in supermarkets, as they are much cheaper there than in the parks.

In the parks they can cost up to 15 dollars, while in the Walmart, Dollar Tree and Target you can find it for less than 2 dollars.

Cold months in Orlando

In Orlando, the cold is undoubtedly a reality and you can't ignore it, even though you're in Florida, believe me, it can get pretty cold!

I remember that when I did my exchange in 2007, I had negative temperatures on some nights, something like -2°C, -3°C.

And worst of all, that same day the morning was relatively hot, something like 20°C.

The temperature variation on the same day can be very aggressive there!

With that, the wait for the night shows in the parks can be very painful because of the cold (we have already gone through some of these perrengues and we show in our Youtube channel).

But even so, there's no way not to enjoy the city: during the day it's sunny and with a coat or sweatshirt you can handle the cold. And at night, he wants to hide in closed places like the malls Florida Mall or the Mall at Millenia.

Weather in Orlando Month by Month

As we look at the definitions of seasons in Orlando, we will have winter starting in December through February; the spring which runs from March to May; summer from June to August and autumn from September to November.

Orlando in Winter (December to February)

Disney Winter
Disney Winter

This time of year, the city of Orlando is marked by little rain and lower temperatures.

Winter in Orlando is not very cold. The temperature is milder during the day and drops more at night. The temperature also varies fluidly during this period, and can be reasonably hot and then become cold a few minutes later.

A more intense drop in temperature can occur during the passage of a cold front, but that blizzard scenario we see in northern countries is something rare to happen in Orlando.

In general, the lowest temperatures are similar to the winter in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, without the occurrence of rain.

The water parks close during this period, but to enjoy the others, the weather contributes a lot.

The tip is to pack light clothes for the day and warm clothes for the night. Always carry a sweatshirt in your backpack to prepare for changes in temperature.

Orlando in Spring (March to May)

Disney Spring

This is a good season to travel to Orlando, especially for those who like a little more heat. Still, because it is a humid climate, the thermal sensation is very pleasant.

Spring is truly a beautiful season to behold, and in Orlando, some attractions make you sigh.

The main one is the Flower Festival at Epcot (International Flower & Garden Festival) with beautiful gardens, gastronomic attractions and gardening seminars.

This season, the Water Parks are back in full swing and the sales in stores are a good opportunity for shopping.

Orlando in Summer (June to August)

Orlando Summer

This is a season well defined by heat and rain. The highest temperatures at this time of year oscillate between 32 and 36 degrees Celsius and the lowest between 23 and 26 °C.

In this season, you have to pay attention to the rains. Although the parks sell raincoats and towels, it's good to take precautions if you don't want to have an extra expense.
Even so, the rainy seasons are characterized by intense and fast showers, which does not interfere with your trip so much.

It is also the period when the parks are most crowded, as it is the vacation period in the USA. So it's good to prepare for the long lines at the parks or buy the Fastpass.

Summer is the best time to enjoy Orlando's water parks, so
If you like this kind of fun, you already know which season is ideal for your trip to Disney.

Orlando in the Fall (September to November)

Disney World Autumn
Disney World Autumn

With mild weather and a respite from the rains, autumn in Orlando is a great season to enjoy the parks.

It is that period characterized by pleasant temperatures during the day and a slight drop in temperature at night, so shorts and a sweatshirt should be included in the travel bag.

It's also the back-to-school period in the US, so the lines aren't usually that full, except for the hottest rides that are always packed at any given time.

Also, October is the time for Halloween, with nightly attractions at Universal's park.

Hurricane Season in Orlando

The hurricane season “officially” takes place between June and November, but we can say that the “worst” months are usually september and october.

It is in these months that historically they tend to form more storms tropical species that can evolve into the category of hurricane.

This does not mean that every year there is a hurricane passing through Orlando in these months.

In fact, quite the opposite, most of the time, the hurricanes that we see in the news affect the coast of Florida more, as this type of natural phenomenon loses its strength when it enters the mainland. So even if you are going in these months the chances of it affecting your trip are slim.

There is nothing to be alarmed about in advance, but it is important to be aware.

First, hurricanes do not occur every year and as the city is home to a tourist complex, parks and hotels are prepared to deal with this situation.

Still, the city of Orlando is located 40 miles from the Atlantic coast and most of the time, the impact on the city is the occurrence of strong storms.

If you are planning to travel during this period, the ideal is to stay in hotels instead of renting a house, as the staff are prepared for this type of situation.
