Do you like strong emotions? Do you like adventure? Then the Expedition Everest Roller Coaster at Disney is the attraction for you.

Animal Kingdom's first extreme attraction, the roller coaster Everest Expedition!

Opened on April 7, 2006, it takes you on a radical tour of the Himalayan Mountains, where the Yeti, guardian of Mount Everest in American legends, inhabits.

Before the opening of the Avatar area in Animal kingdom, this was by far my favorite attraction in the park, in fact it is still one of my favorite attractions in all of Disney World.

Although she is just a wooden roller coaster, she is VERY fun and extreme, but not too extreme.

You enter the universe of attraction right in the queue, which is completely themed. Her theme is amazing, even in the queue you will be impressed with the amount of details.

In fact, at the end of this post we put our youtube video and in it, in addition to filming the attraction, we filmed parts of the expedition everest queue, so you can get a pretty cool idea there.

The Everest Expedition Roller Coaster

It is an amazing roller coaster that reaches a speed of 80km/h.

With areas in the dark and moments when the cart runs "backwards"!

The idea of the attraction would be to escape the Yeti, which tries (and succeeds) to “break” the roller coaster tracks.

It's one of the fastest rides ever. Walt Disney World!

A Himalayan expedition with chances to spot the fearsome Bigfoot.

It is worth mentioning that as it is one of the few radical attractions of Animal Kingdom.

Therefore, it usually gets pretty crowded, so if you have the opportunity, buy one custom script or Genie+ to avoid giant lines for this attraction.

The only sad news is that in the middle of the attraction there is a huge animatronic of the Yeti that used to move and was very realistic.

But it's been off (broken) for a few years now.

But disney didn't remove it from there, they just reduced the luminosity of that area a little.

You can still see the Yeti well, but he just stands there!

And at the end, when the attraction ends, you go straight to the shop (naturally).

By the way, this store has really cool souvenirs from the attraction and is a lot of fun to visit, not to mention a lot of cute Yeti things.

Yeti roller coaster information

The minimum height to enter this attraction is 1.12m.

And it is located in the “Asia” area of the park.

The Expedition Everest roller coaster can be slightly, or very, scary for younger children.

Therefore, we recommend that you watch our video on youtube as we show you how the roller coaster ride is.

So you can decide if it's too radical or not for your child.

Is it worth walking on Expedition Everest?

Undoubtedly!

Expedition Everest is one of the best animal kingdom attractions.

In fact, it is one of the best attractions in all of Walt Disney World!

If you have the opportunity and height to ride it, don't miss this chance.

Everest Roller Coaster Trivia

There are more than 8,000 products that came from the Himalayan region that are scattered throughout the attraction.

It took over 1800 tons of steel to build its structure and 2000 gallons of paint to paint it.

The entire attraction occupies an area of 25 thousand square meters.

The Mountain occupies an area of 4000 square meters.

Expedition Everest was so far the most expensive roller coaster built in the world.

The big mountain seen in the theme of the attraction is actually not Mount Everest, but the forbidden mountain.

Come back later at night and guarantee an amazing photo with the lit up roller coaster!

History of Expedition Everest Attraction

Expedition Everest has a very immersive history that begins in the attraction's queue.

You will pass through various facilities in a village called Serka Zong, which is in the kingdom of Anandapur.

Anandapur lies at the foot of the Himalayas in northern India.

This village was formerly used by the tea company Royal Anandapur, but was bought by the expedition company Himalayan Escapes Tour and the ?Expedition Everest? it was one of the routes offered by this company.

The attraction queue passes inside this village and company premises.

It has several references to expeditions and also to ancient temples that were built by the people who live in that village.

2 adventurers named Norbu and Bob renovated an old train line that was used to transport tea between the mountains.

She had been deactivated for several mysterious accidents, some even blaming the mysterious Yeti.

And now that refurbished line is the connection to the camp.

But the train uses a shortcut that ends up passing through the middle of the forbidden mountain that is protected by the famous Yeti.

Imagine what bad can happen?

References to the Yeti are seen throughout the queue, including warnings that the expedition company is not responsible for what can happen during the journey.

It even has a small museum that showcases the supposed Yeti and its appearances over the years. Including citing that an expedition tried to pass through the forbidden mountains in 1982 but never reached its final destination.

Guests then board the roller coaster trains and the adventure begins along the Himalayas, past the Forbidden Mountain and finally to Mount Everest.

This is one of the things I love most about Disney attractions. It would be very easy to just create a fun roller coaster and leave it there for visitors to enjoy.

But instead there's a whole story rich in details and characters behind it that makes the attraction experience even more immersive.

As I said before, Everest is one of my favorite attractions not only in Animal Kingdom, but in all Walt Disney World and for me it is a mandatory stop on every trip.

She is included in Genie+ if you don't want to queue.

If you want more tips on how to enjoy this park.
